Running Out of Time!

Whew, I have been a sewing manic the last couple of weeks. I will post pictures of some of the things I've made when I finish all my last minute items, have them wrapped and under the tree. I sooooooo have to start earlier next year! I will still be sewing gifts after tomorrow since we won't meet up with my husband's side until later. That gives me a little time to finish my mother-n-law's gift. I had other items I wanted to make but just ran out of time. Did you ever find the saying "my eyes were bigger than my stomach" kind'a applies to sewing? That seems to be my reality this Christmas since I planned a lot more things to sew than I have been able to finish.

Given the fact I am out of work this Christmas due to back surgery, this Christmas will be made up of mainly homemade gifts. Apparently we are not the only family in this situation this year since my sister called to let us know she was doing homemade gifts this year for the my girls due to limited funds.

I hope everyone likes their gifts even though they are not store bought expensive items from their Christmas lists!

Merry Christmas Everyone!

Empty Nester

With all my blog surfing, I have noticed a lot of bloggers have younger children. My husband and I will soon be empty nesters as our youngest daughters have one more year of high school. I hate to admit to it, but I hit the big ‘5’ ‘0’ a couple years ago! So I may not fit in with the average craft or sewing blogger. At this stage, we don’t have grandchildren either. We actually are hoping grandchildren are a ways off yet. Therefore, I don’t have any young children to sew or craft for at this stage. However, we have three 4 legged children, which at times are even more work. We have two Pomeranians, my little girl Peyton and Teddy, a very large Pom who will turn 1 in Febuary. Then we have a very neurotic German Shorthair, Jordan. We live next to a school playground so the dogs can get on my nerves when school is in session. We bought the house 2 ½ years ago and hope to plant tall shrubs to block the view next summer. While I have enjoyed reading everyone’s blog, I do hope to connect with bloggers in my age range too.

Blog Surfer

I have recently become addicted to blog surfing as I search out new tutorials. This fall I turned a very small second floor bedroom into my sewing room. However, I haven’t been able to enjoy the new room due to back surgery in October. I am 7 weeks post op from a T-Lift procedure and about the only thing I can do at the moment is surf the internet, watch TV or sleep. I am lucky to be married to a network engineer, so our house is wireless allowing me to surf and watch TV from almost any room. I have ADD tendencies so I have issues doing only one thing; therefore I can blog surf and watch HGTV at the same time, another addiction! I am hoping to soon be able to sit long enough to sew since I have a list of sewing projects for Christmas. While I have a fairly new embroidery sewing machine, I recently got a Singer Slant-o-matic sewing machine for sewing on heavier fabrics. After breaking a number of needles on the other machine, I realized it wasn’t going to allow me to sew than one layer of the heavier material! Lol

In my surfing, I have found so many tutorials; I have had to create a database to organize them. So part of my time is spent on entering information into the database. Hopefully as I get acquainted with Blogger, I can share some of my finds. I am looking forward to interacting with sewers and crafters around the world!
